About KSE
KSE — Kite and Surf Essaouira — was born from the desire to offer Essaouira a serious, local and open school, based on the central beach a few minutes from the medina.
Our approach can be summed up in three words: local, transparent, secure. We are not a chain, we do not subcontract teaching to passing seasonal workers. The team lives here, rides here, and teaches here year-round.

Our story
KSE was founded with a simple idea: one of the best windy beaches in Morocco deserves a school that takes the time to do things right. In Essaouira, the wind, the tide and the state of the water conditions change quickly; local experience matters as much as equipment.
We wanted to offer a local alternative, anchored in the city, with instructors who know the right time window, the right spot and the right pace to progress every day. Since our beginnings, we have accompanied solo travelers, couples, families, groups of friends and independent riders who often return season after season.
Our teaching method
Each lesson starts from the same basis: understanding the conditions of the day, choosing the right spot, preparing the right equipment, then progressing at a pace that remains useful and safe.
Safety first, always
Before each lesson, we do a complete briefing: analysis of the day's wind, choice of spot adapted to the level of the group, checking of equipment and reminder of safety rules.
The instructors keep a direct line of sight on the beginners. On advanced levels and trips, supervision may include radio communication, first aid kit and intervention plan depending on the conditions.
Structured progression
For kitesurfing, we follow the IKO progression, from the first safety gestures to autonomy. For surfing, we use an equivalent progression: clear objectives, adapted exercises, debriefing after session.
No unrealistic promises: we tell you honestly how many hours it will take you to reach your objective depending on your level, your comfort in the water and the conditions of the week.
Small groups
Group lessons remain limited: 3 people maximum in kiting, 4 in surfing. Beyond that, the supervision loses quality. We prefer to keep formats readable and effective rather than overloading the lessons.
Our local commitment
KSE is a local school: our instructors are Moroccan, trained here, and live in Essaouira or in the region. We work with local accommodations rather than large standardized chains.

Our philosophy
Learning a board sport is not just about mastering a technique: it's about learning to read the ocean, understand the wind, respect the sea and other riders. Our goal is not to get you on your feet in two hours, but to give you the basics to ride long after your stay.
This is why our lessons always include an element of theory, that we take the time to debrief, and that our instructors can say that the conditions are not suitable today rather than pushing a student towards a session that does not suit them.

Lessons are taught by the KSE team. For accommodation, we work with selected local partners: riads, villas and apartments.
